Freedom Home opens! A unique AirBnB in historic home
The Borough recently bent its zoning rules to allow for an Airbnb-- saying the unique property would help promote Columbia.
It's three stories and has 14 rooms, five bedrooms, more than 3,000 square feet, and even a hidden room, but its draw might be what it sells outside the walls.
"They are staying in a neighborhood and eating in local shops," Columbia Borough Manager Mark Stivers.
The reviews for “Freedom House” are just as positive.
"We loved it! And why did we love it? What an experience. Talk about stepping back in history," Patti Learn said.
"The beds were comfortable, it was cool inside, and the town was amazing, so that's really exciting because our goal from the beginning was to make people fall in love with Columbia," Justin said.
The men agree the house sells itself, it's the perception of Columbia that has to change.
"We are created for something, to be more than just a ratty little river town, and I think Columbia really is created to be something special," Mark said.
It's exciting to see it being appreciated for what it is, a historic home in a historic town that gives people really an unforgettable experience.
