Mayfly Invasion Scavenger Hunt
There’s been an invasion. A mayfly invasion and YOU are invited to come and hunt them down before they fly away! Columbia announces the Mayfly Invasion Scavenger Hunt beginning 4/3/21.
4.3.2.1... GO!
Whether you are visiting for the day, walking the Northwest River Trail, or staying for a week to visit the many shops and museums Columbia has to offer, we invite you to have fun discovering Columbia in this scavenger hunt. It’s for people of all ages. First, of its kind in the region, Columbia has had 24 permanent Mayfly fixtures, placed in a large circle, around strategic sites in Columbia. Visit the participating shops for a set of clues. When you find those Mayflies, stop in another shop for more clues until you find all 24! We have a “challenge” Mayfly that will be harder to find, but if you do spot him, you get a free ice cream cone from Hinkle’s Restaurant.
You say you don’t like ice cream? That’s ok, stop in Murphy’s Mercantile (inside the restaurant) for a free candy bar. (*one free treat per day per person.) The Mayfly Invasion Hunt is brought to you by the Merchant’s Association of Columbia. MAC established a volunteer organization comprised of local business people, community leaders, and residents who represent the business and organizational interests of the Columbia Borough. The purpose of MAC is to promote and encourage the creation, expansion, and retention of businesses in the Borough of Columbia while increasing foot traffic.
MAC’s plan is to work in conjunction with local and non-profit organizations for the betterment of business in the Borough of Columbia. MAC wants Columbia bustling with the energy of years gone by that everyone remembers. Join us in the effort to establish, sponsor, and promote events to generate enthusiasm for the business community.
It is such an exciting time to be part of the revitalization of this great town. The long-planned renaissance is finally here! MAC’s strategy is to be a voice and advocate for the business community while representing members’ issues in dealing with local government on matters that affect business.
